art wall

2502_a map of forgetting

This art wall (Map of Forgetting) captures the site's topography and the house's serial sections…sliced, overlaid, and woven into a single graphic language. CNC milled from three inch precision board which begun as a screenprint which became a fractured twenty-one puzzle piece, which become a whole, which feels carved rather than assembled; a continuous erosion that refuses modularity.

Anchored by quarter inch steel on its edges and floating free from the walls, this sixteen by sixteen foot monolith rises matte black against the landscape beyond. A clerestory window above casts light downward, illuminating the topographic and sectional geometries embedded in its surface—the house's hidden logics made legible. From the dining table, it becomes a meditation on site, section, and memory, a dark mirror that holds the landscape and architecture both.
