The laptop table shares its DNA with its smaller cousin, the same bent aluminum plate broken on a brake into a tabletop and supporting leg, anodized in the same ombre tie dye of greens and yellows built up through successive dips. The same bent flat bar stock forms a second leg, its edges stiffening the structure while offering a natural place to grip. Where the side table reaches for a solid bent rod as its third leg, the laptop table rises instead on a square aluminum tube, slotted to allow adjustable height, a small mechanical intelligence built into an otherwise sculptural object. At eighteen inches wide, eleven deep, and twenty four tall, the proportions shift to suit its purpose, tall enough to work from a chair or stand beside one, deep enough to hold a laptop and the small clutter of a working session. Two pieces of a shared kit of parts, three pieces total, one new, the same bent plate, the same bent bar, but a different third leg changes everything about how the object inhabits a room. What begins as raw stock, broken and bent into structure, becomes a small object of real utility, still carrying the gestural, hand-shaped quality of the process that made it.
