Three layers of ¾" hot-rolled steel, CNC-cut and stacked, build a relief that reads simultaneously as circuit board, topographic survey, and architectural section. The shapes are not invented, they are found. Lifted directly from the site's contour lines and the project's serial section drawings, the geometry carries the memory of the land and the logic of the plan into the surface of the wall. The fireplace does not decorate the room. It encodes it.

The mill scale finish is left intact, sealed only with wax, dark, mineral, slightly alive depending on light. No paint, no coating, no disguise. The material is allowed to be exactly what it is: steel that remembers how it was made.

Above the opening, the counterweight mechanism is fully exposed, cables, pulleys, and a weighted cylinder that descends as the screen rises. The movement is slow, deliberate, gravitational. In a room defined by craft and precision, this is the one thing that moves, and it does so with the candor of a clock: nothing hidden, everything legible.

The fireplace is the anchon of the room, the fixed point around which everything else orients. It holds its own among the paintings and objects surrounding it, not by competing with them, but by belonging to the same conversation: the conversation between making, thinking, and the particular weight of a thing that was considered all the way through.
